Beams and arrays
When you need gain in a chosen direction, you reach for a beam or an array.
Parasitic beams
A Yagi-Uda adds a reflector and directors around a driven element to throw energy forward. A cubical quad does the same with full-wave loops, often giving slightly more gain per boom length and a lower angle.
Wideband and steerable
A log-periodic array keeps useful gain across a huge frequency range — ideal for TV and test ranges. A phased array feeds many elements with controlled phase so the beam can be steered electronically, with nothing moving — the basis of modern radar and 5G.
Choosing
More elements mean more gain and a narrower beam, but more size, weight, and aiming precision. Match the beamwidth to how accurately you can point.
